1st Exam...the countdown is on!

I have been to my appointment. I am 50 % effaced and 1.5 cm dilated. This means nothing as most first pregnancies go into labor close to their due date and I need the baby to stay put until December 5th. She said the biggest hurdle for most pregnancies is reaching 4 cm and that I could stay at this measurement until 41 weeks, we never know. Dr. Connor also pressed around on my stomach and said…"whoo…we’ve got a good size baby in there!” Ahhhh…I was so frightened I did not have the opportunity to ask her what a “good size” baby is! The baby is still head down but not engaged in the pelvis so I have not dropped yet. Until the baby engages in the pelvis there is a chance he could decide to flip, but Mary Jane said that 98 % of babies stay head down after they get in that position…so my fingers are crossed. So Dr. Connor left my exam room saying we’ll meet the baby after the 5th…I think I have her on board with my denial!

Visits!

So I realize that some friends are stopping by to gauck at my enormous size...but nonetheless I love having visitors. Emily and Pierce stopped by today on there way back from the Auburn/Georgia game, and the Nan and Big Rog are planning on stopping by after Thanksgiving because Roger does not want to miss seeing my preggers!

Anyway here is the picture that Pierce took of Emily and I and OMG....I thought black was suppossed to be slimming??? I actually wore that dress to church that morning! Who knew how innapropriate I looked! Thankfully it was like 40 degrees outside so I kept my coat and scark on in the church...that could have been a rude awakening for some early service goers.

And as if Emily had not already done enough bringing me Pooh bottles and throwing that fabulous shower in Birmingham...she brought Baby G his/her first Christmas present and this most precious and wonderful "Lovie". For those of you new to the baby world a "Lovie" is a small square of fabric, a perfect infant blanket size with the head of a stuffed animal attached to it. You find lots of them with teddy bears and lambs and ducks and frogs....but look at this most precious little owl that Emily found! I love it...it might be Mommy's lovie!

Halloween

So sorry I started this post and never finished it. So Halloween this year we had two different parties on different nights so I used to different prego costumes. The first time I want as a devilled egg. I wore all white with devil horns and a sparkly pitch fork, and I covered my baby bump in yellow tissue paper. Sadly I failed to take a picture of this get up. I will however be using the pitch fork and horns again in the future. The pitch fork is the size of a wand and for those of you in attendance at my bachelorette party you know how much fun an intoxicated Allison has with a wand. So next year...

The second Halloween get up we did was none other than Bristol Palin and he self proclaimed redneck boyfriend. Bristol is due to have her baby about 5 days after me so i figure we are probably somewhere in the same stage. Unfortunatly there are no good shots of her anywhere online looking like anything other than a normal sweet highschool girl...so I just dressed up to look like a teenager.

Names

So everyone asks about names. Do we have them picked out? Are we telling? So I thought I'd share a bit of information. We presently have two girl names and one boy name picked out and they are somewhere on the list of family names below...but that is all your getting!

We are going the secret route because we have 3 sisters and we certainly don't want to stake a claim on a family name and for them to later feel like they can't use the name we almost used...plus what if I meet the baby and decide he or she doesn't look at all likea ******. Then that family member might have there feelings hurt that we were going to use there name and we didn't!

Crib Bedding

So my mom was in town two weeks ago and I have been so busy I have not yet taken pictures of the beautiful bedding that she created. Also while she was here helped me get everything into the nursery and washed all of the baby's clothes, blankets, birth clothes and towels in the baby specific detergent. I would be lost without all her help! She is so funny she asks me questions about organizing the nursery or how to store things...as if I have any clue! I have never had a baby before! I just want her to make those decisions for now. SO here is the bedding on the crib. More pictures of the nursery to come later!
