Riley makes his second move...

So if you have been following the blog, then you might have see the post, "Riley's First Date". That was when he made his first move. Well two weeks ago while we were hanging out watching football he made his second move and write under Avery's Daddy's nose too! See below:

Saturday

The schedule for the 10 Year Reunion went like this:

Thursday Night: Float Decorating...followed by 2 bars, which is more than either Michael and I had seen in a long time!!

Friday: Tea at the school (we did not make it), followed by a pep rally (Michael went I was working), followed by the parade. Then the football game (Riley was sleeping away with our favorite Brewton baby sitter Rachael, but we made it) and then we went to The Oaks (Bar # 1) followed by the ever popular White Horse!

Saturday: Picnic including the kids and semi formal dinner at Willie's (FYI the words semi formal and Willie's do not belong together in the same sentence) People left here and headed to the Legion...Michael and I did not make it.

Below are two pictures Etta got of Riley and I. Riley was making THE FACE in the second one so I had to copy him.

Please note this precious outfit...it is red and grey gingham and has an elephant holding a football smocked on it.

Are we really this old??

Time and time again I am shocked to realize I am really a grown up! I feel like it happened over night, and despite my attempts to deny it becoming a mother sealed the deal. (mind you it was not the wedding vows, working full time, or the house payment) Anyway this past weekend was just one more reminder of how grown up we are. We went to Brewton for Michael's 10 Year Highschool Reunion. Any of you who know Michael know that he is a very proud T. R. Miller graduate, and therefore we could not miss a minute of the weekend. So I took off work Friday so we could get to town for the parade! Below you can see some pictures from the weekend:

Above is Etta on her float, as it was her classes 40th reunion.

This is Riley's first parade, hanging out with Big Mike, and Pop. The following three picture are of Michael's classes float.

And here you can see my little pumpkin playing with Big Mike.

The Face

So it's not just smiley faces we get from young Riley anymore. The ladies at daycare told us that Riley recently began taking toys away from the other children and this weekend we saw first hand the faces he made when he was forced to share. Needless to say sharing for Riley is a work in progress. He made the face when sharing his toys with Avery Williford and when he saw one specific toy. The toy you see below is suppossed to encourage crawling, but the second it started he made a nasty face and crawled into my lap.

Yesterday, Riley made THE FACE a lot. Over the weekend we thought it was in reaction to things he did not like, but it now appears to also be his concentration face, the face he makes when he is studying something and trying to figure out what it is.

10 Months...Really?

Posted by Picasa
We have in the past taken the month photos with him sitting next to the month card with a white back drop. As you can see this is a break from the norm as Riley's more recent mobility has made it difficult to keep him in any one place. If you look close on the last picture you will see he is standing and not holding on the the crib. He does this from time to time when he's pulled himself up and then grabbed a toy or something he wants. THis morning at daycare he was standing next to the car seat and he let go and stood there for about two minutes and then looked around not know what to do next. I am so terrified he will be walking before I am ready...lets be serious I am never prepared for these milestones they all happen so fast!
Other things to know about Riley as a 10 month old...he is still eating baby food, and still has no interest in putting food in his own mouth. This past weekend TJ gave him a saltine and Riley chowed down on it, it is the only thing (other than white bread once and rubber ducky heads) that I have ever seen him feed himself. And he did it more than once. Thank you TJ for your help in this matter. Riley goes to sleep at about 5:45/6:00 pm and he wakes between 6:15 and 6:30. He takes 3, 6 oz bottles a day, and one 4 oz bottle before bed. His favorite food is still winter squash. He still only has his middle two bottom teeth and no signs of any others as of now. He is developing a little bit of a temper (more on that later), and he has a bad habit of taking toys from the other babies hands at daycare. (He seems to realize he is the oldest in the class)

Tonight

Michael was enjoying his sleepy baby and enjoying him so much I found him hanging out in the nursery instead of putting him in the crib. So here are the pictures.

Riley Kisses

Riley started to give hugs and kisses at the end of June. They started about the same time, but now he mainly just gives kisses. Anyway I am the main recipient of said kisses (and if you asked 9 months of pregnancy and an epidural free labor earned me that right). His hugs and kisses started a week or so before we went to Dallas, he was 6 1/2 months old. His first hug was to Gie Gie, and he did so by wrapping his arms around her neck and biting her neck...good thing he did not have teeth then. A couple of days before he did that he kissed me...this involves his mouth wide open and drooling landing on my face...most likely my nose. Back in June he would give me a kiss, then in August we started playing a game. I will give Riley a couple of kisses and then he will react by giving them back, then I kiss him, and he kisses me back, and so it goes. It might be about the most wonderful thing in the world!!! I end up sopping wet with Riley drool, but nothing is better!

PS I have really started wearing make up everyday like a real grown up...but this day was last week after I had taken Michael to the surgery center for sinus surgery and we had left the house at 5:45. Trust me by the end of this day in particular I NEEDED all of those kisses!

1969 State Champions

This weekend we went to Brewton for the 1969 State Champions Reunion. TR Miller (Michael and his parents highschool) has a great football tradition and the school credits Mr. Godwin's football team with starting that tradition. So here you see Riley in his onsie that said, "TR Miller, No. 62" (Mr. Godwin was No. 62) with his grandfa.
