I think I will give credit to my new found obsession to Sarah Kathryn Sherrill and Anne Brewer. The two of you gave me two different baby food cookbooks, this led to me making my own baby food, which you can read about here. Well that led me to have an interest in when I should by organic food and when I should by local or when it didn't matter. Well for those of you who are curious, organic is not always better, sometimes it is just more expensive. And if it was grown organically in Chile, chances are you better off with something grown locally. And did you know that your blueberries do not need to be organic, but your strawberries should be. Anyway that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to reading up on this stuff, so I went on the hunt for a book that could be my "go to" whenever I had a question. After several different attempts to find a book I finally found this one:
Now, could I stop there...No! Below are the other books that made it into my shopping cart:

This last one is FANTASTIC!! The author is a food critic from Seattle and he is hilarious. I have enjoyed every minute of his book and I think I am going to try one of his stew recipes very soon. His book is based on his own adventures trying to introduce all different types of flavors to his daughter at a young age. He basically makes the point that you do not have to feed your child bland mush, they can eat what you eat. He is very realistic and reading his book along with the others may keep me from getting to extreme with my food safety concerns...as if as a Mom I do not have enough to worry about!

I swear I won't buy any more books, but Holland has told me to rent the documentary, "Food Inc.", and from her review I get the distinct impression that it will only encourage this behavior. I would ask you all if you think I am going overboard, but I already know the answer!

So basically you're doing for us what none of us want to take the time to do. So I will ask you to please begin a weekly post of a few important highlights/tips on what you are finding. And everyone else that reads this comment is counting on it, sister. So get to work!
I know you posted this a while ago, but I am starting to debate the whole solids thing (you know, when and what, and all that), so thanks for the book recommendation, oh and the post about making your own. I definitely want to do that. Anyway, I hope you and Riley are doing great! He's adorable as ever!
