Last Friday I left work to take Riley to the doctor. It was our third sick visit to the pediatrician...yeah, we are pretty lucky! We were headed there to discuss Riley's new habit of waking up in the middle of the night. In the past month he has started waking up screaming at an increasing frequency. It is no fun! When he starts screaming abruptly we feel like we should let him cry it out, however these screams in recent days have been different. They sound different and he sounds terrified. So, since I am a doctor, I diagnosed these at night terrors...but somehow my mothers intuition told me I should still talk to Dr. Trumbell who I trust implicitly. The phone nurse was absolutely no help and not willing to just get an opinion from him...so I harvested the money tree and headed to Pediatric Healthcare to fork over another copay. Our appointment was at 3:45, and we were there about two minutes late...but when I sat down Trumbell's 3:00 was still in the waiting room...so much for getting squeezed in on a Friday afternoon. When we finally saw the doc he diagnosed Riley with reflux! So much for my md skills. And it made perfect sense as we pieced the puzzle together. So the $30.00 was worth it, but it did not make the $50.00 I spent on his meds any easier. But so far this week he has slept through the night...yay!
Below you can see some pictures from the doctors office, where we hung out until 5:30! You will notice his eye is a bit puffy and bruised...this is one of the many bruises this munchkin is walking around with. I guess it comes with the territory when you have a little boy. It came from his third "ouch report", a report that said he fell into the crib base after crawling out from under it. I was shocked he never stops climbing, so I was certain as the director told the story she was going to say he climbed on something and fell. It is almost healed at this point and we are sleeping, so it has been a good week.

I heart Riley (and you).
What a little trooper! He is so freaking cute! Reflux, huh? Is it related to anything he is eating?
